    Bill Clinton: Why We Lost

Check out this article by the New York Post,
Bill: Why Bush Won, about former President Clinton's views on why John Kerry lost the election. Some excerpts:

Clinton also said that Democrat John Kerry was hurt by the polarizing issue of gay marriage, which was legalized by Massachusetts' top court and put on the ballot in 11 states, and the surfacing of a tape from Osama bin Laden in the final days of the race.

Reminded of terrorism by the bin Laden tape, voters decided they didn't want to "change horses" during a time of heightened concern over national security, Clinton said.
    ...
Clinton attributed Kerry's loss to the Democrats' failure to combat how they were portrayed by Republicans to small-town America.

"If we let people believe that our party doesn't believe in faith and family, doesn't believe in work and freedom, that's our fault," he said.
    ...
Clinton said the country was more divided than it was in 1968 and called for an end to the "culture war."

In his hourlong speech Clinton, who had open-heart surgery in September, gave Bush and the Republicans full credit for the election victory.

"The Republicans had a clear message, a good messenger, great organization and great strategy," he said.

Clinton said Bush should use his second term to move toward less dependence on foreign oil.

"This election presents a great opportunity for President Bush and a great opportunity for Democrats, and the two are not necessarily in conflict," he said.

That's why I loved and still love President Clinton, despite his blowjob in the Oval Office. I just hope that my Democrat friends will heed his words.

    See? Read carefully.

"Clinton attributed Kerry's loss to the Democrats' failure to combat how they were portrayed by Republicans to small-town America."

Republicans took my gay issue and drove the wedge to divide the country. Republicans do not care if I have feelings as long as it is an opportunity for them to win.

How great is that? To me, that is appalling, demeaning and asshole.

You keep on forgetting that John Kerry was against gay marriage, he was for civil unions, and he convienently wasn't present for the vote on the federal protection of marriage act. George Bush is for marriage between a man and woman, but for civil unions.

Who cares if one believed that the marriage is for a woman and a man? Who decided that? Not even a dictionary. Stop putting imagination in the word itself. It is just a committment between TWO persons, regardless of what gender. ACCEPT IT.

Bush confessed that he never knew if being gay is normal but he was actively against the gays, why? Care to answer this?

    Stop avoiding this.

"Mr Clinton, correctly sensing that “values” would play a crucial role in voters’ minds, urged Mr Kerry to back local ballot initiatives calling for a ban on gay marriage." - http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,3-1344943,00.html

I had always thought that Clinton was for gay marriage. Apparently not.

LOL. Don't profess to be Noah Webster. In fact, dictionary.com defines marriage as "The legal union of a man and woman as husband and wife."

kerry and clinton supported civil unions because they did not think the US is ready to legalize same sex marriage.

It is either that Kerry or Clinton believe a marriage is between a man and woman, or not. But it was Clinton who supported the ban on local gay-marriage. Kerry didn't want to go along with it. A dichotomy here. :)

No, Mike. Get it through your thick skull. Clinton and Kerry felt that the whole country is too biased to be ready to accept the gay marriage.

Ok. So, you're saying that Clinton was lying about his belief on traditional marriage value along with his support for the ban on gay marriage and was trying to get Kerry to go along with him to support the ban on gay marriage?

Ok. So, now Clinton is a liar regarding his own belief about traditional marriage.

Which is it? Clinton lied or Clinton believes in traditional marriage and support the ban on local gay marriage?

Nice corner you've backed yourself into.
