Ahoy from Aussie!
Greetings from Down Under! I am currently in Cairns, Australia, which is at the northern tip, just under Papua New Guinea, where our cannibals in this world reside.
This is just a short note letting the world know that I am still alive and well and enjoying myself very much in Australia. Of course, I am on this continent for the Deaflympics, and this is my "vacation within a vacation." Andrew Phillips and I decided to fly up to Cairns for a couple of days as a brief escape from Melbourne, all the way on the soutehrn tip of this country-continent. Cairns is where you go to dive the Great Barrier Reef, supposedly one of the coolest places in the world (that is readily accessible) to go snorkeling or SCUBA diving. We went on two dives today, where we interacted with a giant fish named Wally who let us pet and hold him! When I can, I will post a picture of that. Up next: venturing into the rainforest and cuddling koalas!
I was planning on blogging regularly from Down Under, but, apparently, I overestimated the amount of time I would be online, since this is only the second time of the entire trip that I have been online. After all, I am not supposed to go on the Internet while on vacation! :-)
