Proud of yer geniuses!
Yipee! I can't help it but be excited at 6:44 AM! The cause of my excitement is the fact that Nikola Tesla, one of my top scientist heroes, just came out as the #1 ranked genius in LiveScience.com's Greatest Modern Minds poll.
I wouldn't be so excited if Nikola was not the underdog in this poll! I bet that not many of youse have heard of Mr. Tesla, let alone know that half of our electrical lives depend on his inventions. You see, he is the father of AC, alternating current, like Thomas Edison was father of DC, direct current. I needn't get into too much details right now and explain the difference between these two types of electricity. Basically, it all comes down to this: the difference between AC/DC (not the rock band!) is like opposites: AC is the stuff that comes out of your wall socket, and DC is battery juice.
History has not served Nikola Tesla right. He was basically overlooked, till recently. It thrilled me to see that he was even considered for the poll, let alone place in the top ten! A couple of weeks ago, he was 8th on the list, and now he shot up to #1! Way to go, Nikola! Check out my blog post from a while ago about him.
It is a weird feeling, to feel proud of my heroes, most of whom are dead. Dead in body, but very vibrantly alive in spirit, I tell you! Leonardo da Vinci, another of my top heroes, remains the 2nd most popular genius of modern times. Before I run off back to my experiments, I should take this time to commend several more of my heroes. Bravo, Galileo Galilei, Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, Isaac Newton, Stephen Hawking, and Ben Franklin! They are the ones who really played a heavy influence on who I am. I am struggling to find Alexander Graham Bell's place... That's totally another topic for me to talk about later!
I tell you, reading their own words really does something to your mind- it is like they are talking directly to you. For example, it is much more inspiring to read Ben Franklin recount in his own words how his intense curiosity led him to foolhardily fly his kite with the key attached during a lightning storm rather than to reading about it in a dry textbook. Or Albert Einstein's passionate letters striving for an eternal peace between the Arabs and Jews. You don't get these types of insights into the mind of geniuses in books other than those written by themselves! So, I encourage you to do the same!
Another of my posts, rehashes Ben Franklin's famous 12 Rules of Management. Take some tips from the man himself!
Right now, I am reading Michael Faraday's (a recent addition to my list of heroes) book, The Chemical History of a Candle. Quite illuminating.

For
me, this site will be less of a personal diary and daily pulpit,
rather, it will focus strongly on being an e-soapbox for my
political issues of concern, and to highlight the technological
advances that will uniquely benefit us, the Deaf tribe, and
simply a portal for everything else that constitutes the Artist
